Joe Meek For IU Trustee 2024

As a proud IU alum and passionate advocate for education, my journey began with a legacy from my father, who despite economic hardships and WWII service, inspired all six of his children to graduate from college. I earned my D.D.S. from the IU School of Dentistry in 1990, and this tradition continues with my own four children attending IU Bloomington.

My connection to IU is deep-rooted, from memorable games at Memorial Stadium to being inducted into the President’s Circle for financial support in 2022. However, IU faces critical challenges: declining enrollment and rising financial burdens. Inspired by effective leadership elsewhere, I champion frugality and strategic financial management to ensure IU's future accessibility and affordability.

Despite IU's renowned medical program, the Board of Trustees currently lacks representation from this field. With my background in medicine and commitment to fiscal responsibility, I aim to bring essential health insights to the board. I seek your support not just for a position but for a mission — to sustain IU's excellence and address higher education’s pressing issues.
